What i feed. - Scarlet Chested Parrots.

I decided to take some photos of what their diet is. This diet is strict and has been done since i got my parrots. My Scarlet's have a combined diet of seed, charcoal, grit, fresh water, vegetables and fruit. For my fruit and vegetable combination i use a food holding container which is attached to the side of the aviary. 3 times each week i combine a selection of two fruits and vegetables, ( if not any vegetables, fruit is just supplied ) which my parrots love to eat. Here is a picture of their fruit this morning. :

My seed is from a local pet supplier which i highly recommend to other friends with birds. They get a Budgie Mix and then bought separately i buy safflower seeds which is added to the mix. Through summer-autumn  i decide to add Sunflower seeds to fatten my birds up for the cold winter. My seed and water is supplied at the bottom of the aviary on plastic tray-like feeders. here is the seed:

This is the variety of grits attached to the side of the aviary:

Thank-you for reading today's topic :) I will soon be posting the aviary, its set up and then the following topic will be about my pair of Scarlet's. Sincerely yours. Lochie :)

Welcome ( My first post )

Hi and welcome to my forum on breeding parrots and other species of birds. I am a young boy who is interested in the life of species of birds and grass parrots, of course as a breeder my dream is to be as successful as possible giving the public the healthiest birds i can produce. I have lost a number of birds to breeding and other conditions but you can only learn from your mistakes and this blog is to advise what are good and bad things about breeding. I breed my birds for the joy of it, i defiantly don't do it for the money i do it so i can see the life of new animals begin their life. I hope you guys can learn of this blog. Thankyou. :)
